Tips for a Better Sleep
Welcome back to The Mansions Woodland Blog. Getting the quality and amount of sleep you need to feel rested every day can seem like an ever-out-of-reach goal. In fact, in our previous blog post we suggested focusing on sleep for one of your new year’s resolutions. Improve your sleep by incorporating some simple but effective adjustments in your home here in Conroe, TX. Try these ideas!
Prepare your sleeping situation.
This encompasses all sorts of things, from cleaning your room to making your bed early in the day so you don’t have to worry about it later. Dim the lights before you get in bed so clutter and harsh lights also don’t disturb you when you’re ready for sleep.
Clean and switch out your bedding.
When was the last time you bought a new mattress? Switched out your pillow? Washed your sheets? These things can seem like a hassle, but they are important to providing a clean, comfortable, and safe environment for you to sleep. Regularly take care of them so you can keep them in top condition for as long as possible.
If it’s been more than 10 years since you’ve replaced your mattress (or if it’s causing you back pains), look into getting a new one. Clean your mattress periodically, clean and change your pillow often, and clean your sheets weekly.
Relax your mind and body.
Help yourself fall and stay asleep by mentally and physically preparing yourself for rest. Give yourself time between sleeping and working out, eating dinner, or finishing up other chores or tasks. Try yoga for better sleep, too!
Some problems we can address by getting a new mattress or adjusting our schedule to better allow for a full eight (or so) hours of sleep you need. But sometimes health conditions may affect your sleep. If you think this is your case, consult a doctor or start logging your habits and symptoms in a sleep diary to see what you can change for the better.
